Following Rhinos in Zambia!

It was early afternoon when we all went to a walking game safari with the purpose to see Rhinos. We entered the reserve by driving and after a while our driver stopped under a tree and from that moment we started our new adventure. After quite a long walk our guide pointed towards a massive Rhino, not just a Rhino, but a mother and baby, which put us in rather a dangerous position. A few metres away there was a male Rhino watching us, he was ready to start charging our group.

Our guide was holding an AK47, not to protect us from the Rhinos but for the purpose to protect the animals against poachers. At least the guy was very calm and with the aid of a stick he managed to get off a tree, he encouraged the male to shy away from us.
Luiz Carlos Santos Jr ©It is breathtaking to be in front of such a large animal. The Rhino was big and beautiful, but not big enough to be protected from the hands of men.
There are people that still believe that by poaching the Rhinos in order to secure the horns,   they will benefit financially from selling them. It was truly a magical moment being so close to such an amazing creature.
